Q: 17900 error while signing in using Outlook

I have been trying to configure on MS Outlook a new gmail account that I created about a month ago. Until now, I was accessing this new gmail account from my android mobile phone.

Today I added the account on MS Outlook on my Macbook Air but I am unable to login.

The account name and password are correct as I am able to login directly through the web.

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

    Please check the below quote from Microsoft;

    RESOLUTION

    To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    Step 1: Verify that you can connect on the web

    First, test to see whether you can sign in by using the web-based application. For example, if you have a Gmail account, visit gmail.com, and then sign in.

    If you can sign in, go to the next step. If you cannot sign in, contact your email client provider to obtain the correct user name and password.

    Step 2: Re-enter your user name and password

    To re-enter your user name and password information, follow these steps:

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
    3. On the left side of the window, select your email account.
    4. Enter the correct email address and the password.
    5. Verify that the listed "Incoming server" and "Outgoing server" are correct.
    6. Click the red button in the upper-left corner of the window to close the window.

    Hope it helps!
