Wifi issues on ios 9.3.5

I am an iPhone 6 user. After upgrading to iOS 9.3.5 I am facing some serious wifi issues. I can connect to wifi only if I am within a meter's range. Is anyone facing a similar issue? I tried resetting the network settings.. But that didn't work out. Please advice how to fix this.

I have serious internet connectivity problems with my iPad Gen3 after having installed the recommended ios 9.3.5 update. I can connect to the wifi network (Airport Express) but I have no internet access. When I open the Airport app, I have a green light at my access points, but the internet light goes green-orange-green-..... Lights on the devices are green. Thing is, sometimes the internet works OK, sometimes it doesn't. I tried rebooting the device several times, ressetting the network settings, rebooting the modem, accesspoints, try on other places... nothing seems to help.

We have several other iPads and iPhones (slightly newer generations), and all of these work fine. Looking at the discussion forum, I see that I am not the only one with this problem.

Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. Suggest starting from the top and working down.

1) Restart you device.

2) Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

3) Reboot Router/Modem: Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band). Channels 1, 6 or 11 are recommended for the 2.4 band.

4) Change to Google's DNS: Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. Also disable any VPN apps and test Wi-Fi again.

6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

8) Backup and Restore the Device using iTunes. Try restoring as New first and testing it. If ok try restoring the backup (the backup could be corrupted).

9) Go to an Apple store for hardware evaluation. The Wi-Fi chip or the antenna could be defective.

Hi Guys,

i have updated my IPAD 2 wifi+G3 to ISO 9.3.5. and started to experience the same issues too. Basically the connection to my home wifi router became unstable: connection going up and down multiple times, IPAD requesting to enter network password multiple times, most of the times without even recognizing it. Initially i thought i was typing it wrong, but all of the other devices running on the same home network (Iphone and PC) were all connecting right. This was never the case running 9.3.4...something has clearly changed in the way ieee 802.11 network signing in protocols (security?) is handled in 9.3.5

After a number of tests (and tempted to throw the IPAD 2 away, blaming Apple etc etc), I played a bit with the router modem settings, connecting to the router home page (ie 192.128.1.1-> Advanced settings) and changed the network pass security protocol authentication to WAP2-PSK and cryptography to AES. This action triggered the Network connection to reset and IPAD2 connected rightaway. Sometimes i need to toggle this setting to have the IPAD connecting, but at least the connection to internet works and network speed is back to normal.

Not sure if this trick will work for everybody but I hope could stimulate some thought.

Good luck

Rob
