why is my iMac uploading to store-011.blobstore.apple.com ??

Hello everyone,

for a few weeks now I've noticed horrible internet connectivity speeds from my iMac and all other devices on my LAN. As soon as I turn my iMac off or simply disconnect it from the LAN everything works fine.

I installed Little Snitch to see what is happening and found a (maybe even THE) culprit :

nsurlsessiond is uploading to store-011.blobstore.apple.com ... continuously ... with the maximum bandwidth my DSL will provide at any given time, essentially blocking all other traffic and requests or rather making them time out.

What is store-011.blobstore.apple.com and why is my iMac uploading obvious large data quantities there ?

Hi airbusdriverlt,

It sounds like you maybe having an issue with a runaway process on your iMac. I am not too sure what the "011.blobstore.apple.com" is, however, using the Activity Monitor, you should be able to end this process and reclaim the normal internet connectivity speeds. Please use the links below to learn how Activity Monitor can help.

Use Activity Monitor on your Mac

Apps can affect Mac performance, battery runtime, temperature, and fan activity

Quitting the processes in Activity Monitor that are using high amounts of your network bandwidth should have this resolved ASAP for you. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to post your question. Have a great day.

That is a great way to find which apps are using this process, airbusdriverlt. If the processes cannot be ended using the Activity Monitor, try booting the iMac up into safe mode and then re-check the processes. OS X El Capitan: Start up in safe mode

If the processes do not seem to be consuming the same amount of network percentage, then restart the iMac normally. You can also try resetting the NVRAM. How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac

As a last resort if none of the above does not resolve, reinstalling OS X can prove to be beneficial. You can use Time Machine to back up your device before reinstalling. Please see the links below for further assistance.

This should have this issue resolved for you. Thanks again for using Apple Support Communities.
