Q: apple tv only works on left speaker

Through any HDMI input the left side audio is the only one working, regardless of changing inputs.

Both audio channels work on all HDMI inputs when tested with a DVD player, had the same problem with Google Chrome and returned it to the store. Has anyone experienced this phenomena ?

It would sound as if you have confirmed that the issue must be with the device and the not the cables or the TV. How old is this particular Apple TV? Is it still under warranty or AppleCare?

Have you tried a different HDMI cable, it seems odd you had exactly the same issue with the chrome thing.

Yes it's odd.
I did as you suggested and changed the HDMI cable, same result.
I'm thinking the TV might need a software download but no one has suggested that.
Apple TV is one day old.

I'm inclined to think it's the TV not the Apple TV, two (different) devices doing the same thing is quite a coincidence.

Have you tried setting the ATV audio output to Stereo, to remove any doubt about the TV handling other audio formats?

Also try switching the format from Auto to 16 bit.

Diana it is repaired !
I did switch the output to 16 bit and also looked for a mono switch (non existent).
Turns out the jack for remote speakers wasn't completely inserted, works with the DVD but not the apple tv, strange.
All good now. Thankyou everyone !
