how do i stop siri from sending calendar invites?

When creating a "Calendar event" w/ Siri and using a name (like Jane), Siri automatically invites the recipient, and worse, if specified "some other Jane", sends to every Jane in my contacts.

Is this a bug, setting, or user error? Thank you...

I couldn't believe that this was still a problem, but I just called Apple Support and they confirmed that if you say, "Schedule a surprise birthday party for Jane Doe for Friday at 7" it will absolutely send Jane a calendar invitation for that date and time. They only work around they had was to say "Schedule quote a surprise birthday party for Jane Doe close quote for Friday at 7". There is no way, they said, to turn off this feature globally. Madness.

Hi,

It's working ok on my iPhone running iOS 9.3.5.

Check to make sure your iPhone is up to date. Tap Settings > General > Software Update

If it's running iOS 9.3.5 already see if restating your iPhone helps.

  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
  3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

Then try a Siri calendar event.

If there's an update available, you can update via a Wi-Fi network right on the iPad by tapping Settings > General > Software Update or using iTunes > Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
