Aug 31, 2016 12:12 PM in response to fromhaleiwaby sterling r,Hi fromhaleiwa,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you're being asked repeatedly to enter your Mail password. I use Mail constantly throughout the day, so I know being able to access email can be a big part of everyday use. I am here to help.
It's possible Mail is unable to connect to your email account because the email provider isn't accepting the password. Here are few reasons an email provider may reject your password:- You're not using your current email password. If you updated the password on another device, make sure that you're using the same password on this device.
- Your email provider needs you to update or reset your password for security reasons. For example, if you turned on Google’s two-step verification, your Gmail account in Mail now requires the appropriate app password.
- Your email provider deactivated or suspended your account. Contact your email provider for help.
If Mail on your Mac keeps asking for your password
Have a wonderful day!

Sep 1, 2016 3:36 PM in response to fromhaleiwaby fromhaleiwa,Hi, thanks for your response.
Actually mail now works, ( same password I always used ) but what doesn't work is under system preferences, internet accounts is still saying that they are unable to verify account name or password.
My service provider is globo.com in Brazil, and I know that there's no support for the notes program over cloud, but mail always worked...
Now the question is: if the password works on the mail program , why doesn't on the system preference internet account?

Sep 3, 2016 6:28 AM in response to fromhaleiwaby irina_w,Thank you for following up. The details you've provided are very helpful. The next step would be to verify the settings for this account. You can use Mail Settings Lookup to view your settings or contact your email provider directly and ask for the account information provided here: Mail settings you might need from your email provider. Once you've verified settings you can compare them to the settings shown in Mail preferences.
If the settings are all correct, you can also use Mail Connection Doctor to learn more details about this issue. The link below provides information about Mail Connection Doctor and how to use it.

A simple step will configure the IMAP account once again .
Open system preferences & click internet accounts , and select the mail that is not connected .
A window will appear , please enter webmail and password .
After short while just verify , open mail app - window & click on connection doctor , it will show connected .
