Hi guys,
Has anyone ever edited a radio / audio only play on FCP 7?
If I had all the necessary files - dialogue, sound effects etc - would it be possible to just use the audio tracks on FCP and piece together a play?
I know I could use Soundtrack but I've no experience at all with that software so was wondering if FCP could be used.

I'm sure it's been done, and I'm sure you can - but isn't this a good opportunity to learn Soundtrack and take advantage of software designed specifically for the task at hand?
One suggestion - if you do use FCP-7, then place a slug of black on the video track that is the duration of the production so that FCP always has a video reference to lock to.

Audio is one of the better aspects of FCP. It's the main reason that editor Walter Murch, who started as an audio editor, chose it. I do full audio mixes when I cut using it...and...I cut my audio only podcasts with FCP 7...not Soundtrack Pro, not Adobe Audition. So yeah, it's fine for this!
Soundtrack Pro...is DOA. Just as EOL as FCP 7, so there really is zero benefit in learning it...IMHO. FCP 7 does this, and he knows it, so why not use it!?
Learning the workflow in a sound app like Soundtrack will make the OP be better prepared to use Audition.

Meg The Dog I totally agree with you on learning something new. Alas, for me it's the time constraints that prevent me from doing this. You know how it is with projects - everyone wants everything yesterday!
What I might do is once the project is over and I have some free time, I will redo the edit on Sountrack Pro.
