Q: black screen macbook pro

hello

I pressed the on button to wake the laptop, the screen flashed up the desktop for a second then when silent and the screen when black.

the apple logo isn't lit up on the back either

I have done a nvram reset but this didn't help.

I think its a 2011 MacBook pro running the latest version osx I think

please help me, I'm about to through this through the window

    Reads like there is no power going to your LED display.

    Check with an external display using a display port adapter.

    If it works than there is something wrong with your LED display.

     

    I had a similar problem once with my MBP

    What I did to fix it was to open the back cover of the MBP

    Disconnected the LED display cable and then reattached it

    closed up the MBP and powered it on and Whala ! the LED display was working again.

    So it turned out that the cable was not making a good connection.

    If you connect a monitor to the MBP and the monitor is also black, the GPU is the prime suspect.  If the monitor shows a good image, then the display or the display connection is the problem.  A definitive answer can be obtained at an Apple store genius bar for FREE.
