ring if dead battery?
if my iphone 6s battery is dead will the phone still ring once then go directly to vm or does that only happen when the do not disturb is on

If you're referring to the "ring" you hear when you attempt to call it from another phone, that does not correspond to an actual "ring" on the target phone. If the target phone is off or DND is turned off, or it has no service where it's at, you may or may not hear a ring when you call it.
