Q: Keep NIC on Mac Pro from auto-registering in Windows DNS
I administer a Mac server running Yosemite 10.10.5. I have one NIC designated for Network traffic and the second set for just iSCSI traffic with a ethernet cable connecting to my Drobo. Also on this server is Retrospect Server.
The problem that am having is that the NIC that is set as my iSCSI connection is being registered with my Windows DNS server. This is a problem because the Mac is directly connected to the Drobo via Ethernet cable and has a different IP address subnet (192.168.5.X) then my regular network cable. (192.168.245.X).
Retrospect clients are failing to back up their data and from what I can see they can not connect back to my server because the NIC set for iSCSI is registered in my DNS and there is no way for their traffic to get to the server by that IP (192.168.5.X). The regular network (192.168.245.X) IP is also in my DNS, but when you ping the server from the client only the address for the iSCSI shows up (192.168.5.X). How can I keep this NIC from registering with my Windows DNS or change my DNS to keep this NIC from showing up as the IP of the server instead of the correct one (192.168.245.X).
Thanks
