Q: Ahhh need help with Numbers - too use to Excel!

Hello,

I am very new to Numbers. I have a spreadsheet and in a column I have the following -

AB071602 then below I may have AB071604 and so on - what I need to do is change the 07 to 08 and the 16 to 17 on every cell, over 200. I know there is a way to do this with a formula in excel, but I am not sure about in Numbers? I don't want to have to sit and change every cell manually.

I also have all these numbers in another column and need to a .jpeg to the end of all of them, again, I am sure there must be a formula to add it automatically.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you in advance.

    Assuming you have something like this:

    Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 6.28.22 PM.png

    you can create the file name by substituting "0817" for "0716" and appending ".jpg" on the end.

    the original photo id is in column A and the updated file name is in column B (in this example.

    B2=SUBSTITUTE(A2, "0716", "0817")&".jpg"

    this is shorthand for select cell B2 then type (or copy and paste from here) the formula:

    =SUBSTITUTE(A2, "0716", "0817")&".jpg"

    to fill down, select cell B2, copy

    select cells B2 thru the end of column B (or as needed), then paste
