Aug 31, 2016 2:59 PM in response to Fpertby Fpert,It seemed to work at the beginning showing the apple logo and the progress bar. After that it came back to a black screen with several thin vertical white bars. It seems to be a software-related problem but I don't know which one.

Is this your response to starting in Safe Mode? Are you saying this happened when attempting to start in Safe Mode, or are you simply attempting to provide more detail to your original post?

Otherwise, follow the "If ..." logic in the Safe Mode article if possible. If not, contact Apple Support.
