Q: Is there a way to open text files with arbitrary extensions?
In the context of the iOS mobile platform, is there a way to open arbitrary plain text files that have an arbitrary extension? As an example, during my work day, I regularly encounter plain text files that have a .out extension. I would love to be able open these simply with iOS notes without renaming them to .txt. i encounter many of them, and only need to do this for a few minutes, so taking the time to rename them significantly adds to the time.
On desktop OS's one can typically "open file with", and then choose the application. I'm looking for the equivalent in iOS. Please note that accessing the files on iOS is not a problem with icloud drive, dropbox, etc. they just can't be opened easily. Simple text editor, not full blown word processor.

You'll need an App that can handle the file.
Generally File Management apps can handle any type of file. I like Documents 5 by Readdle, as it can open pretty much anything.

The "Open With" equivalent in iOS is "Open in", "Share xxx", or even "Copy To".
How you get to it, depends on where the file is located.
From iCloud drive for instance, you can make it open the file in a specific App by holding your finger on the file icon, and selecting "More..." from the menu that appears, and then selecting "Share Item... " and finally selecting an App from the list.
