Aug 31, 2016 8:55 PM in response to coachmksby Niel,Drag the library through File Sharing over a network, or an external drive which contains a partition or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended, launch Photos with the Option key held down, click on Other Library, and choose it. You may be told to upgrade the library; if needed, the upgrader is available on Apple's Support website.

Aug 31, 2016 8:56 PM in response to coachmksby LarryHN,Connect the two systems together or use an EHD formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and move the library from the old system to the new system
If the old library was created by iPhoto '08 or earlier (version 7.x.x or earlier) download and run the iPhoto library upgrader - Using the iPhoto Library Upgrader tool - Apple Support
Then drag the old library to the Photos icon in the Dock to migrate it to Photos
