If you happened to store your notes in iCloud, they are easily available to you.

Simply use any computer's browser to sign on to http://www.icloud.com and your notes will all appear!

Or you could use any iOS device's Notes app to see them (assuming, of course, it is your device signed in with your Apple ID and password).

thank you sberman, yes some Notes are in my icloud

and others are in my AOL (;-) thankfully

but there's still a 3rd group of my Notes only in my iPad, which I do not see in the Notes app on my MacBook Air.

I'm in the process of trying to update my iPad through iTunes by connecting it to my MacBook Air and we shall see if that brings it back to life... there do appear some glimmering hopeful signs just now. I was at the point that I'd rather get rid of this ole iPad than restore it to factory settings and lose everything!!

Once you get your iPad functioning (either your iPad 2 or a replacement), I strongly suggest you reconsider the above and keep your notes well organized - housed in exactly one place. If that place turns out not to be iCloud, then be certain they are backed up if they're important to you.
