Q: Itunes Plays Imported Audiobooks out of Order Because it Turns Track Names into Chapter Names

I tried listening to an audiobook I'd imported from my own collection today via my iPhone (synced from iTunes). My phone repeatedly played the tracks out of order. It kept playing all of the tracks titled "Track 01" first, despite them being tagged as different discs in the metadata.

It turns out that at iTunes automatically equates the track title with the "chapter title," so all of the files titled "Track 01" are now considered the same chapter. And there doesn't seem to be any good way of resolving this.

I'm trying to rename chapters by disc now so that they play in order, but there is no quick way to do this, as Apple has removed the "Next Track" button from the "Get Info" window. Thus, I'm going to have to very tediously rename every track in every single audiobook I've imported and hope that solves the problem.

Is there a better way to keep iTunes from doing this automatically? Some setting, perhaps, that leaves the Chapter title blank or makes it use the disc number instead?

but there is no quick way to do this

Check the Dougscripts web site. I occasionally use one called "albumize selection" to automatically renumber a series of tracks.

I have no audiobooks, I have no iPhone, and I use iTunes 7.5, but I recall reading posts here which comment on iPhones having reduced capability in working with some advanced metadata tags.
