Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We can see from your post that you are missing your iPhone phone number when you activate iMessage. iMessage is a great feature of the iPhone and we want you to be able to use it so that you can stay in touch with everyone.
We have great resource that shows you how to add your iPhone phone number to use with iMessage. Try the steps listed in this article: Add or remove your phone number in iMessage or FaceTime on your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac
