Q: Why won't my mouse connect?

Hi,

I have my iMac for a couple of years now. Recently my mouse is taking forever to connect, that is if it connects at all.  I don't ever power down my iMac, keyboard or mouse.  I just let them go to sleep in the hope that its ready to go as soon as I need it but my mouse never plays ball.  I've read on a few forums that people have had similar issues when they turn their mouse off but as already mentioned, I don't do this.  The only way I can get my mouse to connect is after my iMac and keyboard are well and truly awake is to turn of the mouse for a couple of minutes and then turn it back on again.  I know that I shouldn't have to do this.  Can anyone shed some light?

Hello, you don't tell us what OS you are using.   If you have upgraded your OS to El Capitan, that probably explains why you have this problem.   El Capitan ideally requires the new Magic Mouse 2 to function correctly.   The old Magic mouse only partially functions with El Capitan.  One other thing; coming soon is OS Sierra.  That too, will need the new mouse to get the best results.
