Q: Upgrade to El Capitan left orphan file

When I upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan iPhoto was replaced by Photos except, apparently one file. Whenever I restart my iMac, with a restart or shut down, Safari launches automatically and displays a file in what I assume is Chinese. It is clearly an iPhoto remnant and I have been unable to do any kind of search that would locate the file and allow me to delete it.

I've tried using an applications cleaner app to get rid of all iPhoto files but that hasn't has any effect.

Here's the file name:

file:///Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources/iPhoto.help/Contents/Resource s/zh_TW.lproj/phtee0cc112.html

If someone could tell me how to navigate to that file and nuke it I would appreciate it.

Here's the top of the file that automatically loads when Safari launches.

    Hello swfarrar,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important getting your Mac and Safari working properly again is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to launch Safari without having this file opening since updating to OS X El Capitan. Good news is here are a couple of steps that can narrow down and resolve this issue:

    1. First, use Safe Mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Log into your user account in Safe Mode and test the issue again. Then restart your Mac normally and test the issue again.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

    2. You can figure out if unexpected behavior is related to user file or setting by trying to reproduce the issue from another user account. This process includes creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.

    3. If you're still having this issue, you can make a backup of your personal data and put a fresh copy of OS X El Capitan on your Mac using OS X Recovery mode, as that will overwrite these system files causing the issue.
