Wifi problems - pages not loading

For the past few months we've been having all kinds of problems on our WLAN. Images in emails not loading - pages never loading - or only partial loaded with missing components.


It's not just Safari - Firefox, Opera are both acting the same way on badly behaving sites. I did empty caches in Safari/Develop, but not much help.... and again - it's not Safari alone.


It's not the ISP, Router or WLAN hardware because when loaded on a MacBook Air or iPads there are no issues.


That only leaves one thing - the iMac itself - either hardware or something globally in the system. I've tried start up in safe mode - ay first it wouldn't even start (froze) but when it did succeed and then return to booting normally, the same issues reappeared. I'm about to reinstall the El Capitan Combo Update.


Any other thoughts?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 3.4GHz i7 3TB Fusion 32MB

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities! It looks like you've tried several things to isolate why you are having trouble loading some websites, or opening emails with attachments on your iMac. When you started the computer in safe mode, and tried to open a website that you were having an issue with - what was the result? Did the page load?


Another way to test this is by using a wired connection (ethernet cable) vs. Wi-Fi which should be a much faster connection for your iMac.

If you do decide to reinstall OS X El Capitan, be sure to make a backup of your data using Time Machine first.
