video export with original time stamp

Hi every body

I'm a little disappointed. I want export my videos and photos from iCloud. But when I export with all gps and tag information then the file will saved on my local drive with today time stamp. This ***** very much.

On photos this is easy because the EXIF data I can recover the original date and time. But on videos I don't have EXIF data. So I loose the original date time stamp.

Who can I export videos from iCloud to local drive including the tags and gps data and keep the original date time stamp?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Apple have to think about this. This is very bad!

The manufacturers of video software and hardware need to agree on a EXIF standard for videos. Dealing with the dates of Digital videos has been a pain since the first digital videos cameras came out. I write the date of a video directly into the filename as soon as I download it from the camera or my iPhone.

I don't know of any way to download videos from iCloud using the web interface without changing the creation date. If you access the the videos in iCloud using the Photos.app on a Mac, Photos will show the correct date.

But exporting an edited video from Photos will also save a file with a new creation date, only exporting the unmodified original will save the original date.

Hi Léonie

The problem is not there is no EXIF data. This is a mess, but this standard is in this moment so.

BUT

When I save the modified video (or photo), then I except from Apple (photo.app) that it save my file with the original creation date and time and the modified date and time from modification. This will be the right way. I except from Apple they think about such a mess. Or give me the possibility to tick an checkbox "Use the original datetime -> Yes/No" when I download the modified file. The photo.app has this information, why do they not use it?

I did a lot of work to tag every photo and video and insert into all files the gps data (inkl. videos). And when I download the files I want give them the name YYYYMMDD_hhmmss.ext or similar by a batch tool. But as I said, I have over 800 videos in the cloud, so nobody want change the file dates or file names manually by this mass of files.

Do you agree?

Cheers Andy

When you download from iCloud a new file will be created with the creation date of the . There is no way keep the original creation date and modification date, when you download the video using the web interface and not the Photos.app on a Mac.

You can correct the wrong creation date after the download manually with applications like "A Better Finder".
