Q: Update corrupts applications or stops them from executing

On 2015 Macbook Pro, after the update no applications would load/execute giving an error to the effect of "the application can't be opened". This included all OS X built-in apps like Safari/Mail/App Store as well as all 3rd party apps. I restored from Time Machine and tried a 2nd time with exact same results. Avoiding the update for now.

I used a Safe Boot, and moved the contents of /Users/yourname/Library/Caches to Trash. Then rebooted normally, emptied the Trash, and things were back to normal. This may or may not remedy what you experienced, as I observed other issues that were corrected by this approach.
