Q: Apple Numbers and Gmail

I recently used my Numbers application to make a list of the books yet to read that I have in the house. It ended up being 289 books.

This morning I was in my gmail (via a browser, not the mail program) and did a search for a name. It turned up 289 results, each which was a copy of my book list. So every time I added a new line to my numbers program, gmail was mailing it somewhere. In the header of the emails, the "to" recipient was blank. None of these emails show up in my sent folder, only when I searched for a person's name (my book list included authors).

Is it normal for gmail and numbers to interact this way, or am I hacked?

And why would gmail send it out and to whom?

Is it being used by Apple or Google for research?
