Wifi and Ethernet settings-panels switched content?! and ethernet not working

Hi there

My ethernet seems to be dead, so I went to check the settings, and noticed that the contents of the panels seems to have been switched around?!

It seems like something is completely off. Hope someone have experienced something similar, and know how to fix it 🙂

The ethernet-problem have been there for the better part of a year, and I've formatted and reinstalled everything, which didn't fix it – could the wifi port simply be broken?

I'm not certain what you mean by "it"? 🙂

Anyways, the Wi-Fi part seems to be about Wi-Fi (pasted below), albeit Wi-Fi and ethernet seems to be switched in the System Preferences and in the System Information windows (do you agree on this, or am I completely mistaken?).

While it doesn't show up in the App Store, it does show up when I look in /Library/Receipts/InstallHistory.plist (relevant part pasted below)… I think it might be because I installed it from the commandline using sudo softwareupdate -ia.

I went to check the settings, and noticed that the contents of the panels seems to have been switched around?!

To get the order you want, click on the gear. In the sub window, select Set Service Order.

Follow the onscreen instructions. When done click the OK button.

When done, you may get a pop up window asking if you want to save your changes. Click OK or Apply or Yes (I forgot which one is listed).
