Q: Why do the order of iPhone photos changes when I transfer to mac??? This is really annoying.

I transfer photos from iPhone to my Mac. These are photos of my thesis data from the field. Order of photos is very important because of the tags of the specimen. When I transfer if to mac, whether by Photos or by Airdrop the order of photos changes and becomes random. This really gives me headache!

Order of photos is very important because of the tags of the specimen.

How are the photos ordered on your iPhone? Are they in an album that is sorted? And how are you adding tags to the specimen? Tagging photos has not been possible in Photos since iOS8.  Are you using iPhoto iOS on your iPhone? Which  iOS version are you using?

You cannot transfer sorted albums, unless you use iCloud Photo Library. Then the sorting of your albums will sync between the Photos Library on your iPhone and and the Photos Library on your Mac.

Or drop the photos into a Shared album, one by one, in exactly the order you want to transfer them.

Not sure if this is related, but when I import a folder of photos from my hard drive to Aperture, the sorting is reversed.  The folder typically has sequentially numbered img. files.   So I just resort them within Aperture, I believe I sort them descending.
