Q: Mountain Lion bad calendar display on iMac

Recently (finally!!) updated early-2009 iMac to Mountain Lion.  A few things were problematic but it's coming along.

However, the calendar date display on the dock (bottom of screen) keeps defaulting to July 17 and I can't get it to display the current date (currently Sept. 2.)  When I double-click on the "July 17", OR R-click then Open -- the calendar comes up correct.  (Shows month of Sept., plus Fri. the 2nd highlighted.)

Sometimes it will show correctly in the dock and sometimes it won't.  And even if it does, it won't "stick."

I have the last version of Mt Lion (10.8.5) & apparently can't go any higher than that since Apple doesn't seem to have the first version of Mavericks any more.

If your computer can run Mountain Lion, it can run El Capitan if you want to upgrade.

The Dock alias may be corrupt. Control - click/Options/Remove from Dock or Hold down the command key while clicking and holding the Dock alias and drag it out of the Dock. Quit/relaunch Calendar. Then control - click/Options/Keep in Dock.

If that doesn't work, try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:

    killall Dock

Log out/in and test. If that doesn’t work, you need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Applications Support/Dock.  Move the .db to your desktop.

    Then try a dock reset.

    Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command

    killall Dock

Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.

If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.

Eric thank you very much!  I copied off your instructions and will try it this evening.
