I Have two I ad air 2 iPads one always defaults to 5g the other to 2g, I have to manually change the second one to 5g.
i Have an iPhone which needs 2g so need router set to,either.
any ideas please

since you say router do you mean 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi ?
if you mean cell then 4g or LTE is newest generation
Hi. Configure your WiFi router to create different networks (SSIDs) for 2.4 and 5 GHz. Then you can connect each device to only one of the networks. Be sure to forget the one you don't want, if it was already connected.
