Sep 4, 2016 6:23 PM in response to ScraPerfectby judysings,Hi ScraPerfect,
Thanks for your question. So, we need to determine why your MacBook Pro is not resetting the time in the area you are travelling, is that right?
Are you still running OS X Mavericks on your computer? Have you updated to the latest version of OS X Mavericks?
The first thing I would suggest is to reset your Date/Time settings in System Preferences. Click the link below for complete details:
If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac
Remove the checkmark in front of "Set time zone automatically using current location"
Next, try turning off Location Services.
About Location Services in OS X and Safari
Finally, restart your computer and enable "Set time zone automatically using current location" and enable Location Services again in System Preferences.
ScraPerfect, if these two troubleshooting steps do not resolve your issue, please reply with any additional information you can about your situation, and we'll continue to investigate.
Take care.

Sep 4, 2016 11:37 PM in response to judysingsby ScraPerfect,Thanks. I am running 10.9.5. Where the time is incorrect is in the menu bar. (see image in OP) I tried all the steps and upon restart--no change. I just sent a message to myself, and the time in mail is off by an hour, too. When I re-checked set automatically, it finds the correct location with the red "pin", but the identified time zone and closest city is not changed from our home base.
Thanks for trying. I could call applecare when i return home but then again, it's correct for our home location! I've just manually selected the correct time zone and closest city--I guess I'll see what happens when we get back home.
