Q: photos shows exclamation mark when opening thumbnail

Hi,

When I open Photos I see all my photos as thumbnails but when I click on them to open a grey exclamation mark appears. The database is approx. 25 gb large so the photos should be in there in high resolution. I imported most of them directly from my camera into the program. I have already tried the repair option using the option and command key. I have version 1.5. Does anybody know what the problem could be?

What has changed since it worked? Have you done any cleanup of your computer deleting files using the finder or cleanup software - that is the most common cause when it is not database corruption?

Are you shooting RAW?
If yes, is your camera on the list of supported cameras, see: Digital camera RAW formats supported by OS X El Capitan - Apple Support https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205272. ?

If the RAW format of a camera is not supported, the thumbnails will look fine because of the embedded JPEG previews, but the full image cannot be displayed.
