Q: Import Cropping photos - iPad

Importing images from an sd card (using apple SD card reader) results in importing photos that are cropped on both iPhone and iPads (with the newest ios).

I've tried 3 different devices and this happens with all 3, it does not happen with another manufacturer tablet.

The camera images are 4000x3000.

When I click on the image in the photo app, it appears still as the cropped image but when i tap on "edit" the full image appears and it is not saved unless I make a change and save it under editing.

What's the issue and what's the fix?

If the full image appears in Edit mode, the photo has been imported as the full version. The iOS devices are just displaying it cropped to use the full screen.

When I look at my imported photos the title bar and the filmstrip below the photos are occluding the upper and lower margins of the photos, but when I tap the photo, the occluding items vanish and I can see the photo uncrossed.

Tapping on the image does nothing. The only way to get the entire image to appear is to tap the phot, tap edit, actually edit something and then save.

That is not the way things are supposed to work. I can go through and edit hundreds of imported images and resave them.

Better not do that needlessly. Editing will reduce the quality of the photos slightly, and you will want to preserve the original quality, unless the photos need editing.

Tapping on the image does nothing.

It is working on my iPad 3. Are we using the same operating system iOS9.3.5? You are saying "(with the newest ios)." That could imply a Beta version.

I am using 9.3.5 (the newest ios9 release.

    iPad Air and iPhone 5s.

I am going to test it later when I get my iPad 3 and iPad 2 back.  I'll post how that goes.

There are others having the same issue going back a year or 2 on these forums as well.
