Q: Control volume of External Device with Mac keys
So, I got an external monitor and it has sound speakers built-in, I got it plugged in though Hdmi. At first I thought I could just plug it it and I would be able to control the volume throught the Macbooks volume keys (F10, F11 and F12) but it is greyed out when I click it.
So I looked it up and it's that way because how HDMI handles things or some sort. The thing is, changing the volume on the monitor is a hassle, it's on the back, I kinda have to try and feel it with my fingers and sort out which one the volume button is, it's a mess.
So Iooked up for a solution, and I did find it. it's called SoundFlower, I'm not sure how it works, or how it used to work, but it made possible por people to control the volume the comes out of the TV with the keyboard keys. Actually it was an extension of SoundFlower, it was called SoundFlowerBed, and it was discontinued there are a bunch of people online that got it to work but it's from years ago and I can't find anything like it.
I looked it up more and found more and more people saying it was impossible, because it's a limitation oh HDMI, and my TV had to support HDMI-CEC or something, BUT THE THING IS, when I use BootCamp, the controls work just fine!! Ta-dam!!! So it's a OS X thing.
But on the Mac it seems like an impossible task. Has anyone found a solution ?
MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
