Q: how to know with which account was purchased an app installed on mac OS X 10.8?
Hi there,
I have a computer with several accounts, and behind several real users, but now all gone.
Now I want to update GarageBand, but this is impossible as it says me the app was bought/downloaded with another account.
- I've tried apple+I on the icon of the application, but this is not among the information provided there.
- I've looked into iTunes as seen on a post, but when clicking on the App icon, it just doesn't gives me the apps I have on the computer.
- I've tried to look at the installation details of garageband in System Info -> Installation, but this is not there neither...
- Inside GarageBand there is a "Register GarageBand" that opens a browser at the address register.apple.com, but the page is not answering,
pfffff....
I wish I could just delete it and install it again with my current iTunes account, but I'm sure this is the kind of app you can't uninstall as it comes with the computer and is an apple top software, etc etc.
Any idea?

Now I want to update GarageBand,
Which version of GarageBand do you have installed, and which version do you want to update to?
It will depend in the version you are using, how you can update it.
But check, if you own an AppStore version of GarageBand at all.
- Launch the Mac AppStore, then sign in with the AppleID you used, when you first set up the computer.
- Now open the Purchases tab of the AppStore - the fourth tab, not the Updates tab.
- Now scroll through your purchases history. Does GarageBand appear among your past purchases? Then you can reinstall it from that tab, if you move the currently installed version to the Trash (but do not empty the Trash, so you can restore it). Check the Purchases history for all AppleIDs you remember.
