Q: Safari and spam

I usually use the Google Chrome browser and never get any spam in my AOL mailbox; however, any time I go into Safari for any reason, I start getting ***** spam arriving in my AOL mailbox, as well as other detritus such as phishing emails.  I have every security thing in place in Safari, but the problem persists.  Anybody have the same problem or have any ideas as to why this happens with Safari?  Thank you in advance.

    me again.  I don't know why the word p o r n o  was blanked out!  I wasn't posting anything nasty - just describing the type of spam I get whenever I have browsed in Safari.  Btw, I use a MacBook Pro that has the el capitan software on it.

    Assuming your privacy settings are similar in both browsers, I doubt the issue is related to which browser is used. It's much more likely related to what searches were performed and which sites were visited on each browser.

    Confirm your privacy settings;

    Clear your browser history, caches and cookies;

    Install ll an ad blocker extension (I like free version of Ghostery, but there are many others).

    Thank you.  I will do that.  I have an ad blocker in place on Chrome, so maybe that is why I don't get the dreck when I'm on that browser.
