Q: Help me with this

i receive today my ipod classic rotana limited edition 30GB but its not working even i connect on my laptop and follow all the instructions in the manual. can you help me to fix this

    Since it's 30GB, is it an older 5th gen iPod?  "iPod classic" is the official name of hard drive iPods that came after 5th gen.

     

    Did you install iTunes on the laptop?  If not, here's where to download the current version.  If iPod came with an old software disc, do not "follow instructions" and use that disc.  Download the current iTunes installer, and run the installer.

    The laptop should be connected to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.  If there are other USB devices connected, try disconnecting them and connect iPod to a direct USB port, by itself.

     

    When you connect iPod, watch its screen.  Does it say "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" or give other indication of a data connection?  Or does it only show the battery charging symbol?  Or does it not react at all to being connected?

     

    Is your computer a Mac or Windows PC?  If Windows, what version?
