Q: how to free disk space on airport time capsule?

I want to add a new macbook to my 2 TB airport time capsule but i keep getting the error message "Need More space". Is there a way to free some space without erasing the whole time capsule?

A:

Only by deleting files from the backup itself. If you use Time Machine, then you would do that using the Time Machine application. It would be much easier to erase the drive in the Time Capsule.

Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with Time Machine. This is an extensive site with most everything you may need for using Time Machine. You will not find a better resource for Time Machine in one location. Due to the passing of James Pondini the site is no longer being updated. Therefore, some of the information may be a little outdated.
