Please download and install EtreCheck from http://etrecheck.com/

Run it and post the report here.

For now forget Etrecheck. Please post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic. Also, please see: How to fix kernel panics after installing OS X updates | MacIssues and OS X- About kernel panics. Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics.

Etrecheck is a useful tool but not for dealing with kernel panics.

I was not in safe mode and while it’s being itself I am trying to send this. But the advice given is beyond me! I don’t really understand what I might or might not be doing. Just what my Mac to work and not misbehave.

one of these is most likely at fault

I would bet on Trusteer or Avira, but any kernel extension is suspect

Update on my kernel panics. After lengthy discussions with the good people at AppleCare we decided to restart in Recovery mode, erase the hard disk and reinstall the OS. That was done but did not make things any better. It was such that my Mac was unusable! After more discussions and thinking, I discovered a Lion Install disk filed away. So I restarted in El Capitan then proceeded to install Lion. That took a loooong time. I then installed over Lion, Yosemite. my Mac being 2008 it struggles with El Capitan. I reinstalled critical software and now I HAVE NO MORE KERNEL PANICS!! Not sure why but it's no longer falling over. Great. Maybe I'll be a new Mac one day!
