Q: Visual of audio wave changes once I stop record in Logic 9.1.8

While I am recording an audio track of bass guitar into Logic 9.1.8, I've got the audio wave looking nice and fat and balanced vertically. As soon as I stop recording, the audio wave shrinks and loses its vertical balance, becoming more heavily weighted at the bottom of the horizontal centre line. Why is this? I want it fat and balanced!

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

sounds to me like you're recording a mono input to a stereo track. Set it to mono and then try it.

Thanks for your response but no, my track is mono. While I record the wave equally fills the top and bottom of the window you see in this graphic. As soon as I stop record, it shrinks from the top and weighs down the bottom as depicted here:

My output is Stereo Out, though. That shouldn't be Mono, right?

The wave shown by logic during recording is for show only. The final drawn waveform is accurate. What you're seeing is the tonal characteristic of the sound you are recording. Don't worry about it. Its fine unless it sounds wrong. Does it?
