There is a MacBook Pro I'm looking at buying on ebay and I asked the person selling it what generation the i7 was and they supplied the following info. Is it 4th generation of i7?

Make sure that the reseller confirms that they have done these steps (especially step 5) before you purchase the Mac from them. Otherwise, their Apple ID/user id/passwords will interfere with your use of the Mac, and OS X App Store purchases/updates under your own Apple ID.
If you can get the serial number from the reseller, ask your local law enforcement if they can trace it on the national hot list to verify if it has ever been reported stolen.
