Talk to text sent from "null"

When I try and talk to text my husband, it keeps sending from "null" even though Siri says it's going to him and she's sending it. It works with my other two friends that have iPhones. Suggestions? I have already turned my phone off and on.

iPhone 5c, iOS 9.1

I will assume "talk to text" means:

  • You are using Siri to send a message.
  • You are sending it to an iPhone.
  • The message is being sent using iMessage (which may or may not be true, even if your husband has an iPhone).
  • The message is not part of an existing thread, but is actually beginning a new message thread.

So presumably you are invoking Siri to send a message to your husband's iPhone, and are dictating the contents of the message to Siri.

Assuming it actually was sent using iMessage (blue bubbles), check Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations From and see it is set correctly.

My wife is having the same issue.

She has an iPhone 5c and tries sending me a text stating my full name and SIRI even repeats that it is sending the message to the same name she said. Then SIRI says it will send the message. I do not receive anything! And when she looks at the message it says it was sent to NULL. I have a iPhone 6.

This just started happening in the last 2 weeks.

Everything is set properly and I tried to text 3 friends on the road and when I didn't hear back, I looked and all 3 texts were in the NULL text... I've updated to the latest OS, checked the Start New Conversations and everything is ok... please help. If this isn't working now, when you go to Bluetooth on iPhone7, that's not going to work well!
