effects won't work in final cut pro

Hi,

I am a bit late to the party but I am having the same issue. Just a few effects apply like aged paper, security camera, artifact. the majority don't work. I tried closing FCP X, reboot the Mac. Hold Option-Command as you start FCP X and Reset the Preferences but nothing happened. I was wonder if you have any additional suggestion before uninstall Completely.

Definitely try reinstalling from the App Store if the majority of the built in effects don't work. Don't work how? Skimmer doesn't preview? Effects don't appear in the inspector? No controls in the inspector?

What version?

Go to the Apple menu and select Restart.

Try trashing your preferences.

Delete render files.

If it does not solve it try creating a new project, add a clip and effect. If it works then maybe the original project got corrupt. Select all, copy, paste into a new one.

When you move the cursor onto the Gaussian Blur Effect icon, does it change to match the selected clip?

Does the problem occur with a brand new library?
