What does "wh screen" mean?
Screensaver still works.
If the screensaver looks normal, that probably means the hardware is fine, and the problem is software-related. Try doing a Safe Mode startup
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support
Do you see this problem in Safe Mode?
Also, look in System Preference Universal Access pane (also called Accessibility depending on OS X version). There are some display-related settings there, such as Invert Colors and Increase Contrast that can affect screen colors.
