moving files

I have a late 2009 mac mini. I just purchased a new 2014 mac mini. Both minis have a partitioned HD. The old mac mini is running 10.6.8 on one side of the partition and El Capitan on the other side. I want to set up the new mini exactly the same way, mainly because many of my programs will not run in El Capitan. Is there a step by step guide to moving all files to the new mini and installing them exactly the same way that they are on the old mini? The new mini does not have a Firewire port and the old mini does not have a Thunderbolt port so I would be using Ethernet ports on both.
