Q: What can you do with a locked iphone?

Somebody gave me a found iPhone 5s that is locked. Is there something I could do to unlock it? Or can I turn it in for credit?

    Those iPhones are supposed to be taken to the police or the people running the place where they were found. Except for trying to figure out who the owner is, you shouldn't do anything else with them.

    No you cannot. The device is Activation Locked, and can only be unlocked by the person who put the lock on, or someone who knows that person's Apple ID and password. The phone belongs to someone else. You need to turn it in to the police, or to the location where it was found.

    It's a brick to you.  Turn it in to the police, or at the very least a recycling facility.  Nobody is going to give you a thing for it as it's not yours to give and it is useless to anyone but the owner who activation locked it.
