Q: What is this display distortion?

So I have recently getting these display anomalies on my MacBook Pro, in which the random blotches of color appear and whatever I am currently looking at gets pixelated. Not sure if its a hardware issue or software seeing as I am running the public beta of MacOS Sierra. Also when this occurs I just close the laptop and reopen it and it is gone.
