Q: Macbook air early 2014 model question mark folder

My macbook air early 2014 model is stuck on a question mark folder when starting up. It occurred after a couple of days after upgrading to el capitan. When i tried to reinstall through recovery, the hard disk is not showing up. I took it to the nearest apple care in bangalore, the sent me a quotation of around Rs. 48000 for repair saying that the logic board is faulty. I bought the laptop for rs.62000. I want to know that how can the logic board be the issue. It has never fallen or no liquid problems. It is also showing boot screen and running into recovery mode. Does any one else have the same problem?? Please help.

My guess would be the hard drive failed, but that model should have an SSD. I don't know what the failure rate of an SSD would be. All electronic components can fail without warning or abuse, but it is rare.

There was a recall for a previous model MacBook Air SSD, but not yours: MacBook Air Flash Storage Drive Replacement Program

I checked the SSD on another Mac and the SSD booted up but its not even show up in my mac air. I guess there might be some problem with the SSD slot on the logic board. Do you have any idea to fix it?

No, not at all, but if you've taken it apart to check on another Mac, I would check any cable connections and the cables themselves.
