Q: iTunes 12 Library Management

I'm sorry for the nature of this post, as it is one of complaining.  Ever since iTunes 12 came out, it has been increasingly difficult to be efficient in managing my library, when it comes to adding content, with each passing version.  Here are a couple of the most annoying examples:

  • Album artwork will not add automatically anymore, and even deletes random artwork whenever it feels like it
  • adding artwork manually is tedious at best.  I can no longer copy & paste artwork from the Internet, but must risk the health of my computer by downloading it, and inserting it.
  • adding tracks is a nightmare.  Let's say I buy an artist's album from bandcamp in .wav format.  I click & drag it to my iTunes library.  I hi-lite it all, right-click, and edit some of the info in bulk before converting to .m4a.  But before converting, I edit a few more things (like track # out of the titles).  This used to be SO SIMPLE in previous versions, because the edit screen had keyboard shortcuts (alt+N, alt+P to navigate from track-to-track, etc.).  I could blow through hundreds of tracks within minutes.  With those gone now, I have to literally cross my arms over each other to type & click with any sense of efficiency.  Some of us simply hate using a mouse.
  • the context menu is increasingly smaller.  I shouldn't have to click 3 times to convert from .wav to .m4a, or ask (and pray) that iTunes adds some artwork to my files.
  • the layout & GUI is further convoluted with each new release.  I miss the simplicity of iTunes 11, 10, & beyond.

Like I said, I'm sorry for complaining so much, but I've always preferred iTunes for managing my iPod & iPhone.  Some may suggest that I roll back to previous versions, but they are no longer compatible with iOS 9, and I am constantly adding new content to my iPhone 5S.  I understand that Apple wants our products to eventually become obsolete so that we buy the latest & greatest, but forcefully doing so by imposing upgrades is really frustrating.
