Q: iPhoto 9.6.1 to Lightroom 6.1

A;

1. I have just upgraded to ElCapitan (10.11.6) and Lightroom 6.1. I also up graded my iPhoto libraries to 9.6.1 (I have many libraries that I have used for at least 12 years). Lightroom does not recognize them when I go to import - they are grayed out. How to fix this? Lightroom says it will import after the version that came out with Yosemite.

2. I did much editing in iPhoto. I see that Lightroom says it will bring in the original and a copy but not the edited versions of each image. I'm quite sure I did not make a copy when I edited the photos, but I believe iPhoto keeps the original as well tucked away out of sight. If I don't see the original, but only a copy in my library, will Lightroom bring in the two versions nevertheless - ie., Lightroom knows where the original is stored.

    Unless someone has developed third party software (if they have then contact them for support on their software) there is no interface between LR and Photos or iPhoto - Apple does not and never has supported use of LR

    The general solution is to export the unedited originals form iPhoto (or Photos) and import them into LR

    It is not possible to use the same photos with both - each has to have its own copy
