Sep 4, 2016 1:03 PM in response to Nielby temekugirl,I don't have a back-up. Its an old computer my kids only use for homework and projects. How do I run the latest security update?
I didn't think idisk existed anymore but it keeps telling me that and to sign in to mobile me which I know is super old.

Sep 4, 2016 2:31 PM in response to temekugirlby K Shaffer,You may have to try & see if the last Safari version update is in fact
a full version; or if by attempting to install it (40MB) it may see any
old original bits that may reside in Snow Leopard still.
• Safari 5.1.10 for Snow Leopard
• About the security content of Safari 5.1.10 - Apple Support
Another way to look at this, may be to get the Combo Update 10.6.8
for Snow Leopard; it may or may not be able to find any Safari parts.
So you may have to look at the Snow Leopard 10.6 install DVD, and
re-install the OS X 10.6.x -- and then add the Combo Update to that.
• Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Then you'd have an obsolete Safari 5.1.10.
Or, if you need a somewhat newer browser that will still have limited
support for while yet, there is a Firefox browser. An 'ESR version' for
older Mac OS X 10.6/10.7/10.8. See mozilla ESR link:
For a workable "Mozilla Firefox browser" for your Snow Leopard 10.6.8
you can look into this page for a download link from Mozilla, for the
• Download Firefox Extended Support Release, in your native language:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/
{If you have the Snow Leopard 10.6 install-restore DVD, that is a handy
tool to keep with a computer that runs it; for the 'utilities' value alone...}
• IF you get the Mozilla Firefox ESR version from above link, that means
you would not use the first part of the following instructions to install it;
since it is not a regular (now unsupported) version. ~ Once past the part
where you would already have the download -- use the instructions here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Also with an external hard disk drive, you may consider using Time
Machine software (in the OS X) and create backups. Also, learn howto make and use full system clones. A clone can run the computer if
or when the hard drive fails; it is a bootable copy.
In any event...
Good luck & happy computing!
