Q: Ring tones !

Hi all,

I upgraded to El Capitan a few mths back and have found an awful lot of things have disappeared !!

One of them not being able to make a ring tone for my iPhone, twas easy before but almost impossible to use any of my purchased songs to make a personal ring tone now.

I've have Googled and You Tubed till I'm blue in the face and frustrated...!!!

Is it me or have Apple decided to limit your use of what you thought was yours to do with to a degree ??

Just need an answer as I have purchased apps for ring tones to no avail, both free and bought.

I'd have thought Apple would have known if all apps can be used seeing as they are selling on ITunes/App Store

Cheers

hi. there is a way of doing it.

    1. select the song you would like to be a ringtone.

    2. select "get info"

    3. go to options and change the time you would like it to start and end. (max 30 seconds)

4.get out of get info and click "create AAC version.

    5. change the extension from AAC to m4r.

    6. it should now be in your ringtones section.

    Hi there Baczzz,

Thanx for the reply, but I had looked for that but couldn't find it. Again looked on You Tube and tried to follow their actions only to be stopped when looking for the AAC version , for some reason El Capitan doesn't give you that option. That is, if its hiding somewhere else ??

I have even had the song in my Ring Tones section but not highlighted so can't click on it...very frustrating !!

Any other ideas ?? By the way I'm using my desk top computer, but that shouldn't matter ?? Would it work on an iPhone? even tried that before too, only to get so far and no further.

    Cheers
