You protect it from corrosion by not getting it wet.

There are water resistant cases out there should you feel this is going to be a problem. Lifeproof is a popular brand but there are others.

I've got an iPhone 6s and the only time it is in a case is when it is in a leather slip case in my pocket. All other times the device is uncased/uncovered. I've never experienced any corrosion issues. However, I keep it dry and clean it in accordance to Apple's recommendations that Jonathan has provided.
